Since the beginning of January the children and adolescents in the region of the new star can rely on more an activity: the Sport Project in the periphery. The initiative promotes leisure through sports and recreational activities.
During the school holidays, activities happen of 08:00 to 04:00 pm, Monday to Saturday at the headquarters of the new star and include recreation, handball, basketball, capoeira and indoor soccer. Currently about 70 children and adolescents between 15 and 06 years participated in the project on a daily basis. With the return of classes will be formed classes for recreation and sport modalities available and it is estimated that the number of participants reached 130 per day.
The Sport Project in the periphery is the result of a survey conducted with the community surrounding the new star and has the goal of providing, through leisure and sports activities, a space conducive to personal development and interrelacional of children, adolescents and young people from 7 to 18 years.
About the new star:
The Community Movement new star is a non-profit social organization with 24 years of expertise in the neighbourhoods of Jardins Elizabete, Helga and Paris, in the region of Campo Limpo, in São Paulo, with the mission to support the families of these neighborhoods in its development through a network of community education jobs, training, sport, leisure, culture, health and sanitation with active community involvement. And the values that guide its actions are commitment, perseverance, presence, references, listening and Union.
